Had a wonderful time hanging out with my fellow partners in crime from FANGORIA and THE NIGHT CREW.
Myself & my fellow jornalistic thugs hosted some great panels with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD actress Judith O’Dea, THE BOONDOCK SAINTS actor Sean Patrick Flannery, ZOMBI & DR. BUTCHER MD actor and all around gentleman-Ian McCulloch, and many more guests of honor.

After several years and several projects together(Corman’s STARCRASH DVD, SHOCK FESTIVAL…) I met my pal (artist & screenwriter for “Bubba Nosferatu”) Stephen Romano in the flesh…

which shows just how crazy it is to be able to work together via the internet before ever occupying the same airspace. Ah, technology…SKY NET’s day of reckoning can’t be far off.

SLIMECITY MASSACRE and LION KING 3D in the same theatre! A few years back, a film I did was playing in UK theatres next to other Pixar stuff…but this just seems much funnier to me. Cheers to all my Slime-tastic brothers & sisters from the film. Looks like we’re legit despite ourselves!

The greatest composer to ever work in Lovecraftian cinema is Richard Band.
So, why did the the greatest HPL news website choose to interview Lovecraftian film composer MARS instead of Richard?

THE NIGHT CREW is alive!

March 2011 reveals THE NIGHT CREW, a new multi-genre podcast centered around cinema culture. Dead House Music’s own MARS will be joining Sean “The Butcher” Smithson (Fangoria/Twitch/Dread Central), Thom Carnell (Fangoria/Dread Central) James Marsh and Andrew Mack (Twitch), Heather Buckley (Fangoria/Dread Central), Gareth Jones (Dread Central) and Sean Decker (Dread Central) as well as writer and film producer Philip Nutman, and Fangoria Editor-in-chief Chris Alexander.. As you can see, there will be no lack of consummate pro’s deeply immersed in the industry.

STARCRASH DVD nominated for Rondo Hatton award

I’m proud to announce that a project near and dear to my black heart; the long-awaited DVD/Blu-Ray release (thru “Roger Corman’s Classics” series) of the 1978 Itallian STAR WARS rip-off /tour-de-force STARCRASH has been nominated for a 2010 Rondo Hatton award for “Best Commentary”.
Stephen Romano’s 2 feature length (yes, I said TWO!) commentary tracks are truly deserving of your vote. Not content to just detail the behind-the-scenes; he also gives a contextual perspective on the state of world cinema of the 1970’s, and just where the “Summer Blockbuster” mentality all began.
VERY impressive and entertaining at the same time. Among the other plentiful special features is an audio featurette (by yours truly) on the music of John Barry (most well known for his work on the JAMES BOND series). If that wasn’t enough, there is the FILM itself…a colorful, vibrant, work of Sci-fi exploitation made all the better by epic performances by Caroline Munro, a very young David Hasselhoff, and a rather reserved Christopher Plummer.

The 22 year wait is over! The official trailer for SLIME CITY MASSACRE, Greg Lamberson’s long awaited sequel to his 1988 splatter-classsic SLIME CITY is up at Fangoria, Dread Central, Bloody-Disgusting etc.

I truly enjoyed composing the music for this film. It was an honor to be part of something that has two decades of history, and fans around the world. Not to mention it was a real challenge to deliver something that worked both as a retro style synthesizer AND a modern symphonic score.
